    DAY FOUR

    1. Read 2 Timothy 3:14-17 and Proverbs 2:1-12. What should a believer do according to these verses?

    2. What did Lois and Eunice do for Timothy? (2 Tim. 3:14-15)

    3. What did Paul confirm to Timothy in 2 Timothy 3:16-17?

    4. Read 1 Timothy 1:2, 2 Timothy 1:5, and 2:1-2. Did Timothy have what was necessary for his commissioning as a minister of the Word and follower of Christ?

    5. Had the training in the Word by his mother and grandmother been profitable in teaching, reproving, correcting, and training Timothy in righteousness?

    6. Explain what Paul meant when he said, "Continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of...." (2 Tim. 3:14)

We need to remember that for Timothy the sacred writings were the Old Testament. These writings were filled with prophecies of the Messiah who would die for the sins of the people. Lois and Eunice were familiar with these writings. They were expectant that in God's good time He would reveal Himself. They were excited to hear the good news of Jesus the Messiah.

Through these two women, a mother and a grandmother, Timothy received precious instruction in truth. Lois and Eunice worked together to develop godly principles in their home. Though the world was ever before them in an unequally yoked marriage, they saw the faithfulness of God. He was the source of their repentance and faith (belief). For their commitment to instill godly morals, principles, knowledge, and wisdom into Timothy's life, these women were blessed. God honored all three of these individuals and gave them the greatest gift of all--belief in Christ Jesus the LORD. Paul recognized the dynamic of this trio. He saw the power of God's Word in their home, and he eagerly encouraged them to remain faithful in believing.

God convicts the heart. The choice to follow Him or reject Him is ours to make. These wise women chose to believe. God used their example to show each of us how our lives can share the sacred Scripture with our children, grandchildren, neighbor children, and children all over the world. We each are called to make disciples and do the good works God ordained for us to do. (Matt.28:19; Eph. 2:10) Let's keep the faith, hold fast to truth, and be found faithful to Christ our Messiah and Lord! He is coming soon! Amen, come Lord Jesus!

    LESSONS AND APPLICATIONS

    1. God's Word is complete and perfect, it is God-breathed, and it instructs and equips the believer. How do you view the Bible? What is your guide in life? How useful is the Word of God in your life each day?

    2. Those who hold fast to the truth will see the fruit of righteousness in their lives. How does 2 Timothy 3:14-15 challenge you in your home today?
