- Describe the scene of the three widows in Ruth 1:14.
- Read Ruth 1:15-18. Where did Orpah go? (v.15)
- From verses 16 and 17 write out each point of identification that Ruth emphasized to her beloved mother-in-law after telling her she would not turn back.

Ruth was a Moabitess, a descendant of Lot, Abraham's nephew. Moab was located just east of the Dead Sea. God had given that land to Lot's sons according to Deuteronomy 2:8-9. God instructed the children of Israel not to disturb the Moabites' land. During the times of the kings, the Moabites caused trouble with Israel. To learn more about Moab you can read Deuteronomy 23:3-6 and Numbers 22-25.
